Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Concept Art shows an older Adam Warlock

New concept art featuring some of Adam Warlock’s Early Creations in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have been revealed, giving fans a look at a slightly different version of the character.

What did Adam Warlock’s concept art look like?

Marvel Studios concept artist Jerad S. Marantz has posted a number of images of an earlier Adam Warlock design to his ArtStation. These designs show an older Adam Warlock with a slightly different look, although elements of Will Poulter’s final look appear to be present.

In the image caption, Marantz said:

“I have to do some early designs for Adam Warlock for Guardians of the Galaxy volume two (sic). It’s always a huge honor to work with the visual development team at Marvel. Many thanks to Andy Park for involving me in this incredible project. The final Adam warlock design was done by my good friend Constantine Sekiris!

“In film, our beloved band of misfits look a little different these days,” reads the synopsis for the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel. “Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe while protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed, could most likely lead to the end of Guardians as we know them.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was directed by James Gunn and hit theaters on May 5. The sequel largely features Rocket’s backstory — the gun-toting, sneaky raccoon voiced by Bradley Cooper — and his history with the film’s villain, The High Evolutionary (played by Chukwudi Iwuji). Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is out in theaters now.
