It’s only two or three weeks late, okay? I’m not lazy about everything, you are! Or something.
Anyway, lots of stuff I haven’t covered yet, but some solid stuff here and some disappointments as well.
======
EPEX – “Sunshower”
Aside from that awful rap break, it’s a pretty fun dance pop song even if the chorus melody didn’t quite connect. Seemed to go towards the more theatrical sounds of block B but without the horses to back them up.

Xdinary Heroes – “Freakin’ Bad”
The fact that it wants to be like a rock anthem but goes with “freakin’” instead of even a fake idol edge kind of sums up how I’ve always felt about the band. In terms of talent, I feel like they can pull it off, but they’re not like a fusion band like Dream Catcher or something like that, it’s just a softer, neutered rock.

Kang Hyeyeon – “Don’t Go”
Shit yo you’re 32 not 72. Seriously she really went for the old fashioned trotting sound here but the vocals are legit and hopefully she can carve out a career singing for babies -boomers.
——
+(KR)Ystal Eyes (tripleS) – “Cherry Talk”
During the verses and the pre-chorus, there were times when I expected them to go into “I seek attention”, but for a production as dense as this, it becomes surprisingly repetitive during repeated listening. My least favorite tripleS version so far, mainly because it doesn’t have the same melodic highs and hooks as “Generation” Or “Rising”but that’s not the worst position to be in with this vibey effort.
——
SEVENTEEN – “Fuck My Life”
Honestly I was expecting something more in line with their best poppy as the title track sequel to “Great”, but it is only a heavy work of vocal effects of a ballad. My day is ruined and my disappointment is immeasurable.
——
Fever – “CHO”
It’s basically an anime opening, which I certainly don’t mean in a pejorative sense. An uplifting and energetic song that continues to build as it goes, the main issue is that some strong vocal tracks are needed in some way for this to fulfill its potential and could have used…well, an Eunji or a Yeonjung.
——
Mijoo – “Movie Star”
Ironically, the main problem with his solo debut is that it could have been by anyone. There’s nothing that stands out from the performance, and she seems to struggle with the limited demands of the song at times. The track itself has potential with some interesting elements, especially if the chorus has been reworked a bit to be less flat.
——
FAST X – “Angel”
Really feel for Muni Long here, who tries her best to save this sinking ship as everyone on this trail blasts holes in the ship with gigantic rail guns. I just hope the check gets paid for her, honestly.
