Star Wars boss responds to Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 speculation

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy asked if the Disney+ miniseries Obi Wan Kenobi will one day receive a season 2.

Kennedy explained why she was so hesitant to deny rumors that Lucasfilm intended to pursue the Obi Wan Kenobi miniseries during EW Dagobah Expedition podcast. “I’m always hesitant to say no more Obi Wan Kenobi“, Kennedy said. “Maybe we’ll end up doing something that will be incorporated into some of the other stories we’re doing, or possibly into a movie, but who knows? But at this time, it’s still our standard standalone limited series.” Kennedy further confirmed that there are no plans to continue the series at the time of writing.

Kennedy said the same at Star Wars Celebration 2023, where she claimed there were currently no plans underway for Obi Wan Kenobi but that there was also a chance that the series would return in the future. “(Obi Wan Kenobi Season 2) is not in active development,” the Lucasfilm boss explained. “But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility. This show was so well received and (director) Deborah Chow did such a spectacular job. Ewan McGregor really wants to do another one. Everyone is on deck with what we’re doing right now, as you can see by what we showed everyone (during the celebration). We’ll turn our attention to that again maybe later.”
